Overseas Travel Grants for Students

For 21 years, the British Veterinary Association has awarded travel grants to veterinary undergraduates based in UK who wish to undertake projects overseas.

In 2002, TAWS started a similar scheme, and selected Rebecca Cannon and John Perrot to work on animal welfare projects relating to horses in Egypt. These projects involved the identification of compromising factors such as foot care and wounds caused by harnesses and saddles. These students, both from Bristol Veterinary School, hope to help to devise methods to combat such problems.

In 2003, Andrew Wallace of Liverpool was supported to study an anthelmintic programme in

Morocco, in collaboration with SPANA. His report, 'Evaluation of the efficacy of anthelmintic treatment in working donkeys in Morocco (SPANA)', is available **here.

The grants for 2002 and 2003 have been made possible generous donations by TAWS supporter,  Mr M Stamp.
It is intended to make similar awards in future years, provided the necessary funds can be secured. For more information, check this website in the coming months and/or contact TAWS.
